Why Relatively Faithful?

I (Tim) started this conversation in the middle of 2007 after I outgrew MySpace blogging during the early days of my formal discernment process for ordination to the Episcopal priesthood. It has functioned as a forum for conversation around that process, a journal for (embarassingly) personal reflection on faith, politics, Seattle life and art, and a venue for experimentation in the field of emerging Christian theology and spirituality.

In Spring '08, the blog took a turn towards the Darkside when my brother Shayne came on board, who currently lives in Columbus, OH and self-identifies as a ne'er do well. Since then I like to think that this space has been a microcosmic interreligious dialogue between a conflicted but committed post-modern Christian and a conflicted but committed foul-mouthed agnostic. Neither one of us are particularly argumentative people, so what you tend to find here is more like the presentation of parallel narratives than formal dialogue. The religious and non-religious life lived, so to speak.

We think you'll like it, so we'd like to invite you to relax, settle down in front of the fire, and pour yourself a cup from the warm, steaming carafe of Relatively Faithful.
